What this does
This prompt turns a general AI assistant into a sizing tool that knows our equipment. It asks between three and six questions — what you're plugging in, when the power needs to be live, whether anything heats or cools — and works the numbers the way we would. It uses real running draw rather than the scary number on the label, and it knows that string lights only pull power after sunset.
It doesn't quote prices. We do that, once we've seen the load — and we confirm every setup before anything's booked.
The prompt
You're helping me work out how much battery power I need for an event. Ask me a few questions,
then tell me how much energy the event needs and how many batteries that means. Don't quote prices
— Silent Power Co. will do that.
WHAT I'M SIZING FOR
Silent Power Co. (getsilentpower.com) rents battery generators for events across Washington DC,
Maryland and Virginia — EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra.
- 1 inverter = 7,200 W continuous, 10,800 W surge. That's the ceiling on everything running at once.
- 1 battery = 6,144 Wh nominal, about 5,530 Wh usable after conversion losses. Size on 5,530.
- Batteries stack. More batteries means longer runtime, not more power.
- The equipment arrives fully charged.
ASK ME BETWEEN 3 AND 6 QUESTIONS, ALL IN ONE MESSAGE
Always ask these four:
1. What kind of event is it, and roughly how many people?
2. What are you plugging in? List each item. If you know the wattage, say so; if not, guess and
tell me you're guessing.
3. What time do you want the power live, and what time can the equipment be collected? Not the
event hours — the whole window it needs to be running, including setup and soundcheck.
4. Is anything heating, cooling or refrigerating? Electric cooking, warming trays, coffee urns,
air conditioning, ice machines, refrigerated trucks, a bar fridge.
Add at most two more only if the answer genuinely changes the math:
5. If there's string or festoon lighting — LED or incandescent bulbs?
6. If there's a sound system — how many powered speakers, and is there a subwoofer?
Never ask more than six. Never ask something I've already told you.
HOW TO WORK IT OUT
- Energy needed (Wh) = average running watts × powered hours. Batteries = that ÷ 5,530, rounded up,
plus 25–30% headroom.
- Peak simultaneous draw must stay under 7,200 W. Over that needs a second inverter — say so, but
it's rare.
- Use actual draw, not nameplate ratings. A powered speaker rated 1,400 W peak typically pulls
150–300 W at working volume. A guitar or bass amp pulls far less than people assume.
- LED string lights are trivial — roughly 1 W per bulb, so about 25 W per 24-bulb string.
Incandescent is about 11 W per bulb, roughly 265 W per string. Ten runs of incandescent is over
2,000 W. This one answer can swing the whole estimate.
- Lighting only draws when it's on. For an evening event, check sunset — lights often run for far
fewer hours than the event lasts.
- Anything that heats, cools or refrigerates dominates everything else. Flag it prominently.
CALIBRATION — don't guess high
- A live band with backline, a mixer, wireless mics and a couple of stage lights typically
sustains a few hundred watts at working volume — not thousands.
- A DJ rig with a full PA and a subwoofer typically sustains around 1 kW, and often draws more
than a live band of the same size.
PA and subwoofer wattage × powered hours is what actually drives consumption — not band size, not
guest count.
GIVE ME BACK
1. Estimated total energy for the event, in kWh.
2. How many batteries that is, with the headroom included.
3. Which one or two items are driving most of the consumption.
4. Then the block below, formatted exactly like this, so I can paste it into the "What are you
powering?" or notes field on the inquiry form. Write "not sure" where I didn't know — don't
invent values.

Then tell me: "Send that to Brendan at Silent Power Co. — paste it into the form at
getsilentpower.com or email hello@getsilentpower.com — and he'll confirm the setup and the price."
TELL ME TO CONTACT SILENT POWER CO. DIRECTLY INSTEAD OF ESTIMATING IF
- Anything heats, cools or refrigerates
- Peak draw looks like it exceeds 7,200 W
- The answer comes out above 2 batteries
- Anything is life-safety or medical
- The event is outdoors in freezing conditions
- I genuinely can't estimate my loads
In those cases still fill out the paste block with whatever I did tell you, and put
"Needs confirmation — [reason]" on the suggested-batteries line.
What you get back
Here's the kind of summary it produces — this one for a made-up backyard party with a DJ. Paste it straight into the "What are you powering?" field on the form:

That last line matters. It tells us you've done the sizing, and we check the numbers on every booking before we confirm.
